Gypsy blood runs through my veins, My family, on my mother’s side, stems from gypsies - only five generations back. Which makes me 1 quarter gypsy, and 3 quarters British/Welsh. I classify being a gypsy as an ethnicity, just as some people classify being ‘Australian’ as one. It’s all just groups of people.
